The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore lulled him into a state of serene relaxation. Mark watched the seabirds circling overhead, the sun warm on his skin. He leaned back against the weathered driftwood, a feeling of deep satisfaction washing over him. The world felt quiet and still.

"That karaoke night," he began, a grin spreading across his face, "when you sang *Bohemian Rhapsody*... gold, pure gold."

David laughed, a short, sharp sound. "Dude, I totally killed that song."

Mark raised an eyebrow. "Killed it? David, you forgot the lyrics halfway through the first verse. I think you even started crying by the end."

David's eyes narrowed. "I was overcome with emotion! The song is very moving. I gave it a raw, authentic performance."
